A WALK WITH HARALD SCHMIDT
This story really happened. It took place in the springtime of 2014 and is absolutely not made up. Why are we telling it here? Because it shows that going beyond one's limits can hold the biggest surprises. But seriously, though – who runs after a public figure? On that day, we just went for it – and we were rewarded for our courage.
On March 24th we went for a walk along the Rhine river to reflect – as all great minds do – on our studio’s goals and objectives. Once we crossed into the philosophical realm, the renowned late-night TV host Harald Schmidt – the German equivalent of Conan O’Brien or Stephen Colbert you could say– passed by. Alone and obviously not in a hurry.
We kept talking for a moment but suddenly realized something: He has to know all the answers to our questions. We turned around and ran about a quarter of an hour to catch up with this man of big stride.
After we had reached him, we struck up a conversation: "Good afternoon, Mr. Schmidt. We don't know each other, and we’re sorry to bother you." Our attempt to shake hands was politely ignored. "We were just having an interesting conversation and we have the feeling you’ll know the answer to our question." Harald Schmidt smiled, shook hands with us and asked: "So, what’s your question?" We answered: "How do you make it in life?". We took a 15-minute stroll together. Mr. Schmidt answered not only this question (see below for the answer), but asked more important ones along the way. We didn't spontaneously ask all of these questions – but searching for them brought us much further. He went on to ask:
"WHAT IS IT THAT YOU DO?"
We transform information, create experiences and make things into a visual reality.
For ONOGRIT, it’s all about transforming information into a visual form and a gaining a shared perception. Wow – sounds fantastic huh? But it's exactly what it is. Our great passion lies in reaching our goals and creating a visual experience. We seek to inspire by creating consistent experiences that work holistically and harmonize individual components. Sounds much better.
"WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR ME?"
We transform ideas and visions into results and develop goal-oriented solutions
For ONOGRIT, every request starts with a face-to-face talk. Here, we ask a lot of questions. What are the motivations, goals, and ambitions that will sustain this project? With a deeper understanding comes a smoother collaboration, and a better result. After a conversation like that, sometimes it’s no longer about a website, but more about an app or a poster series. We love the process of decision-making and ensure that the solution is always constructive.
"WHAT DIFFERENTIATES YOU FROM THE REST?"
We are flexible, we cherish transparent communication and we always decide in collaboration with our client.
We believe that excellent client relationships come from being in a partnership together. When we see things at eye level, a project can then flow towards being a grand success. Nothing less. We strongly believe this is because all parties are involved in the design and decision process.
"WHAT ARE YOUR STRENGTHS?"
A passion for finding the best solution, a love for aesthetics and a maximum level of fun.
Apart from the fact that the people at ONOGRIT are friendly, skilled and talented, everybody’s real interest lies in the quality of the result and the satisfaction of all parties involved. Besides, we believe that you do your best work if you have fun while doing it. That’s why we always have enough cookies, good music and high spirits in the house.
"WHAT IS YOUR MAIN GOAL?"
Independence, fairness and limitless growth.
Consider us romantics – but we believe in a world where everyone can develop their strengths without being the victim of narrow boundaries. We probably all live far too much within these limits – but this is exactly what we are working on fixing.
/ AND HERE THE ANSWER TO OUR QUESTION /
"HOW DO YOU MAKE IT IN LIFE?"
"You need to have a goal. And on your way there, don't let someone talk you out of it, no matter what they say. You need to block out all the critics and doubters, and keep believing in yourself and your goal. The person who is able to persevere will be rewarded. At least, it’s been my experience."
BOOYAH, Harald Schmidt!
